MTN Ghana has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to community engagement by making a significant donation to the Office of the Ga Mantse in support of the annual Homowo Festival. This gesture underscores MTN’s dedication to preserving local traditions and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.
The donation, which includes a cheque for GH¢30,000 and MTN Airtime worth GH¢2,000, was presented by MTN Ghana’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Madam Adwoa Wiafe. Leading the MTN team to the Ga Mantse Residence in Accra, Madam Wiafe highlighted the importance of the contribution as a way of honoring the invitation extended by the Ga Mantse for MTN to participate in this year’s festival.
Madam Wiafe explained, "We are building deeper and deeper ties with our communities, especially our chiefs, and so we came here as a show of support, and as a show of solidarity with the people as they celebrate this all-important festival." Her words emphasize MTN’s commitment to fostering strong connections with the communities in which it operates, particularly by engaging in cultural and traditional events like the Homowo Festival.
She further added, "As a good corporate citizen, we believe in contributing to our community, we believe in partnering with our stakeholders, and the Ga people and chiefs are important stakeholders for MTN Ghana. So, this is why we always find it important or deem it important to participate in festivals such as the Homowo."
This donation is a testament to MTN Ghana's role as a responsible corporate entity, deeply invested in the well-being and cultural heritage of the communities it serves. By supporting the Homowo Festival, MTN not only strengthens its ties with the Ga community but also reaffirms its commitment to playing an active role in Ghana’s cultural life.
In addition to the donation, MTN Ghana has planned several activities to enhance the festival experience. The company will set up experience centers at strategic locations during the celebrations, offering a range of services to festival-goers. These centers will provide a platform for MTN to engage directly with customers, addressing their concerns and providing education on important issues such as mobile money fraud and the use of pre-registered SIM cards. Through these initiatives, MTN aims to promote safe practices and ensure that customers are well-informed.
The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, expressed his gratitude for MTN Ghana’s continued support, commending the company for its generosity and consistent engagement with the community. He also took the opportunity to wish everyone a happy Homowo and offered prayers for the continued growth and success of MTN.
MTN Ghana's involvement in the Homowo Festival highlights the company’s dedication to supporting and preserving Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while also fostering meaningful relationships with its stakeholders. Through contributions like these, MTN continues to solidify its position as a key partner in the development and celebration of local traditions.
